Venice Isles

IOTA: EU131      IIA: VE-29      WW Locator: JN65DI      Wais Square: BK34      Status: Deserted

At the end of World War II the army moved off. In the picture on your left you can notice the peculiar shape of the vegetation, which makes the isle stand out from afar. On the background you can catch a glimpse of the industrial plants in Porto Marghera.

The isle of Campana has a surface of about 0.4 hectares and lies on the Southern Lagoon, at the end of the Campana canal, not far from the "Canale dei petroli". Over the last century it was used as a military headquarter.

Today the isle is derelict, visitors who land there use it as a barbecue and sunbathing resort. Garbage and debris have been washed up on its shores, thrown overboard by people who do not care about the lagoon.
